How to Share Chart of Account in Multiple Companies in Ax 2012

A very straight solution to this query is to have common CoA linked to companies you want to share the CoA.

To understand the end to end process, refer the following steps;
  1. Start with a new company creation, for example named as ‘DYTE’
  2. Create a new CoA header by navigating to General ledger -> Setup -> Chart of Accounts -> Chart of Accounts
  3. Exemplary CoA header ‘DYTE CoA’ is created;
CoA Header

To link newly created ‘DYTE CoA’ to newly created entity ‘DYTE’ ; navigate to General ledger -> Setup -> Ledger
Click drop down list of Chart of Accounts and select ‘DYTE CoA’
Select of Ledger

Define rest of the mandatory parameters such as Account structure, Accounting currency, Reporting currency, Exchange rate type etc.

In next steps,
  1. create another new entity named as ‘MYTE’
  2. Link already created ‘DYTE CoA’ to new entity ‘MYTE’ by navigating to General ledger -> Setup -> Ledger
  3. Define rest of the mandatory parameters such as Account structure, Accounting currency, Reporting currency, Exchange rate type etc.
Now we have same CoA linked to two different legal entities.

Now create a new ledger account under CoA header ‘DYTE CoA’, navigate back toGeneral ledger -> Setup -> Chart of Accounts -> Chart of Accounts (navigation can be applied from any of the company; DYTE or MYTE).
Steps;
  1. Select CoA header ‘DYTE CoA’
  2. Click New
  3. Mention main account code and name
  4. Select the level of main account to display as ‘Companies’
  5. Click on button signed with + (marked in Green) to add companies for which new account to be linked
  6. System shows both the companies DYTE and MYTE in drop down list
  7. Double click the companies you want to share the same ledger account
