Ledger Account Alias in Ax 2012

This feature specially for the staff who are not much into accounts knowledge or not familiar with chart of accounts structure but are into creation of journal entries or helping out the account staff to create journal entries. This feature also helpful for the executives who look for shortcuts of creation of journal entries.

This feature allows accountants to enter predefined code for combinations of financial dimensions. Instead of manually selecting an individual dimension combination each time that he enters a transaction, so this function gives more usability to transaction entry.

Setup:

Navigate to General ledger -> Setup -> Chart of accounts -> Ledger account alias

• Create new record
• Enter alias name which will be used during transaction voucher creation
• Select account structure and company
• Select ledger account alias definition, the translation of  the above alias, here identify account structure, the main account combined with dimensions -

Navigate to General journal and create new journal.

Create journal line. In the account field, enter the predefined ledger account alias name and press Tab button. System automatically picks the combination defined against ledger account alias.
